Dental Bridges
Your smile reflects your confidence and self-esteem. When you lose a tooth, it can impact your smile externally and internally. You may feel less confident when you smile or speak, which can affect your personal and professional relationships.
A dental bridge is a perfect way to replace missing teeth with a beautiful and long-lasting solution. It supports surrounding teeth, improves chewing ability, and helps prevent shifting or movement of healthy teeth. A dental bridge will also give you back full usage of your mouth for eating, speaking, and smiling again!
At 32 Pearls Dentistry, we understand how important it is for patients to feel comfortable during their treatment process. That’s why we offer a free consultation to get to know each patient
before any work begins. We hope this makes the process as easy as possible for our patients so that they can focus on getting back to living life fully again!
Reasons for Dental Bridges
Dental bridges are used to replace missing teeth and support a healthy jawline. If your mouth does not align properly, you may experience pain and discomfort when eating or have trouble talking.
A dental bridge connects the spaces in between missing teeth. To form a bridge, two crowns are needed to affix the new false teeth or tooth.
Crowns
Crowns are covers or fixtures applied to the new tooth, typically made of porcelain, gold, alloys, or a mixture. They often enhance the teeth’ durability and will magnify how your teeth look and feel.
Types of Dental Bridges
Cantilever Bridges
Cantilever bridges are used when teeth are on only one side of the missing space. They are not common, but they are an option to consider in certain cases.
Maryland Bonded Bridges
Bonded bridges are one of the most common dental restorations. Maryland bonded or resin-bonded bridges include a false tooth or pontic attached to your existing permanent teeth on either side of the missing tooth. The new tooth connects to a set of ‘wings’ made out of porcelain or metal on one side.
Traditional Bridges
A traditional bridge consists of two crowns attached to adjacent teeth, and a false tooth called a pontic in between. The pontic substitutes as a false tooth. It is a simple and most commonly used technique for dental bridges.
University Place Dental Bridge Procedure
You will be proud to smile and feel as good as new in only two steps.
Step #1
Planning for dental bridges begins with preparing the abutment teeth. Abutment teeth are the teeth that support the bridge, and they are also known as prosthetics. They fit into the area with parallel insertion and make the crown more realistic. Removal of enamel will help make the new crown work correctly.
A new model is made from impressions of your teeth so that the lab can manufacture the bridge, pontic, and crowns. A temporary bridge will protect your exposed gums and teeth until you receive permanent dental work.
Step #2
Your temporary bridge has been removed, and your permanent bridge will take its place soon. The new bridge must be carefully fitted to ensure that it fits your mouth perfectly.
